I have spent a great deal of my life observing what people do and do not like when it comes to their entertainment dollar.
A strong audio package will drive player engagement and player retention. Audio should be compelling and inspiring, without being fatiguing. That’s the art! Good music and foley drives emotional responses, sometimes unbeknownst to the player. It should serve to support the visual, and make for a seamless and emotive experience. Have you ever heard or said :
“Most players play with the sound off anyway….”
Yes? Then you have the wrong audio designer! Audio is the glue in a game. It may not draw a player to a game, but if well done, it will keep them there!
